Anokha and Sara

About A n o k h a

Anokha is a New York native and a sophomore at the Baccalaureate School for Global Education. She lives in Jackson Heights, Queens, a hub of cultural diversity where one can be transported to another country in the blink of an eye. Although this is her first year in the Girls Write Now program, she has written her whole life. At a young age, her writing was even published by Highlights magazine. When Anokha was thirteen, a printed and online publication, India Abroad, shared an essay she wrote on gaining new perspectives through the art of photography. This summer, Anokha participated in a film camp in association with TriBeCa Film Institute, in which she wrote a screenplay for a film which she also edited. As a GWN mentee, Anokha hopes to combine visual media and creative writing.
