Nyasiah and Veronica

About n y a s i a h

Nyasiah Colón is 17 years old and was born in August of 1999 in New York. She currently lives with her mom, dad, and younger sister in Manhattan. She is Puerto Rican, African-American, and Native American. This is her fourth and final year at Girls Write Now. Nyasiah is the Co-Chair of the Youth Board for current mentees at GWN, where she helps create "dorkshops" and events. She attends GWN’s Digital Media Mentoring Program and always looks forward to meeting new members. She is a self-proclaimed HUGE nerd! She loves anime, reading mangas, writing, videogames, and trying new, different experiences! Her favorite music groups/artists are Panic! At the Disco, Fall Out Boy, Twenty One Pilots, Melanie Martinez, BIGBANG, 2NE1, BTS, BLOCK B and Red Velvet. Writing has always been a tool for her to express herself and her voice. Her favorite genres to write are realistic fiction, fantasy, sci-fi and sometimes horror. Nyasiah used them to escape when she was younger because she was bullied and isolated herself. Girls Write Now has given her confidence and pride in who she is.
