Malika and Hannah
About m a l i k a
Malika Panjabi attends the Baccalaureate School for Global Education. She is in the 10th grade, and this is her first year at GWN. For her, writing is an outlet for things she cannot say, and feelings that are hard to express. Her favorite genres are sci-fi, mystery, memoirs and especially historical fiction; a select few of her favorite would be The Book Thief, Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe, and We All Looked Up. The first book she ever read that eventually got her into writing was Green Angel.
Other than being a writer, Malika is an avid photographer, as well as short filmmaker. For her, photography and writing go hand-in-hand and together create a powerful effect. Creators such as Annie Leibovitz, Helen Levitt and author Sara Farizan are often sources of inspiration for her. Malika hopes to one day be able to create an impact as strong as theirs.
About h a n n a h
Hannah Foster is a writer/editor at Dance Media in New York City. Her work has appeared in various publications including Pointe and Dance Spirit magazines. She obtained her B.A. in English from Skidmore College, where she graduated summa cum laude and earned departmental honors for her senior creative writing thesis. As a former professional ballet dancer, Hannah hopes to share her passion for the arts on a worldwide stage through her journalism career. She believes that good writing can change the world, and Girls Write Now gives her the opportunity to apply that belief in education: mentoring future world-changers, teaching girls that any story they have to tell is worth telling, and helping them gain the skills that they will use to make their unique voices heard.
