About Kayla

Kayla Ortiz lives with her mom and younger brother in Hells Kitchen, NY. She is currently a sophomore at Manhattan Business Academy and this is her first year with Girls Write Now. She likes to write because it gives her a chance to either share her life with others and express herself, or escape reality and make up her own characters and stories. She also likes to write because it allows her to put herself in someone else's shoes. The types of genres Kayla enjoys writing are fiction and memoirs, but she's looking forward to exploring different genres and stepping out of her comfort zone.
