About The Little Things
This piece is a collection of memories that are really significant and meaningful to my life. It was inspired by an app called One Second Everyday, as well as my interactions with my friends. People say that high school is supposed to be the best time of your life, and I'm not sure if that's true yet, being that I'm only a sophomore, but these little videos show how life is full of beautiful little moments that might otherwise be forgotten. In making this video, I've incorporated many of the things I've learned from GWN this year, including video editing.
Process
Making this project, I used little clips from videos I have saved of my phone of little moments that I've had with my friends that represent our friendships. I first collected all of those videos and added them to a video editor called Windows Live Movie Maker and iMovie. I then recorded myself playing ukulele and added the audio to the video. Making this was pretty hard, I had to remake it a lot. Overall, it was really fun and I had a great time looking back at the little things.
The time you felt the most powerful
Being in Girls Write Now helped me gain confidence in my writing and see that there’s more than one way to use my voice. Now I can map out my ideas in other ways besides a pen and a paper. Now I can write a screenplay, create a video game, and even explore video editing! I felt most powerful when Aleksa and I watched our Mockumentary piece for the first time. We were so amazed that we made an actual YouTube video! That piece helped me learn that I actually really enjoy video editing. It also inspired my QWERTY piece.
