About Kayla

Kayla Mccarthy currently resides near Prospect Park in Brooklyn. She is in the 11th grade at Urban Assembly Institute of Math and Science For Young Women. She first joined Girls Write Now to further grow her network of creative and like-minded women. She is drawn to her craft by the idea of how media can change the way people are viewed. Kayla's favorite genres are comedy, realistic-fiction, and sci-fi. Her work has been featured in the 2015 Bronx Loaf Anthology. ​Outside of writing, she likes music, television shows, and movies.

About kady

Kady Ruth is a writer and comedian (and healthy combo of the two) in and around Brooklyn, NY. She's from Maryland, outside of DC, but not Silver Spring or Bethesda. She has a deep love for bluegrass and Appalachian folk music, biking, and online hair tutorials. 

Her series Triffany & Briffney was an Official Selection of the New York Television festival and her pilot Girl Detective Detective Agency was a semifinalist for Series Fest, Sundance Labs, and the Made in NY Writer's Room.
