About Kaya

Kaya Middleton joined Girls Write Now to explore different genres of writing and gain more experience working with a mentor. This is her first year as a mentee at Girls Write Now and is a Sophomore at Beacon High School. She lives in Brooklyn, with her mom and dog Benji. Kaya enjoys writing poetry and memoirs and creating films and blogging. Her favorite books are Purple Hibiscus, Like Water for Chocolate, and The Glass Castle.
