Gabriela Diaz (Gabby) was born and raised in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic on July 9 and moved to the United States in 2007. In her free time, she listens to Juan Luis Guerra and Aventura and writes until her hand begins to cramp. She is a senior in Beacon High School, located in Hell`s Kitchen. She aspires to become a successful neurosurgeon, publish several books of poetry, and to perform various community services around the world. Gabby hopes that with the Girls Write Now Digital Media Mentorship Program, she can showcase her poetry through photography and to continue to expand her work to various platforms.

Michele Hoos works in marketing and communications for Cornell Tech. A former English teacher with a graduate degree in journalism, she lives in New York City. Her work has been featured various publications including Elle, The Daily Muse, and CNN.  She's thrilled to share her passion for storytelling with her Girls Write Now mentee and the rest of the GWN community.
